Shaft sinking using the caisson method, this is one of the two shafts produced which will allow the river Thames to tunnelled under by using a 1200mm micro-tunnel. Shafts can be created to the dimensions of 21 metre deep as shown for a project which was completed for Thames water.

Typical sheet piled pit which has been constructed by F & B for a 1200mm pipe jack under a canal using a digger shield technique. F & B's own piling rig can install sheet piles to a depth of 14 meters.

Auger boring is a effective way of producing a quality tunnel for pipe lines from 450mm - 1200mm. First picture shows a typical augerbores set up & second picture shows the method for man entry to the pipe, third picture shows the Robbins head about to be lowered into the pit. The Robbins head is used for rock boring.
